Orginal Post: : I was reading a board post and I read that quote:

Quote:
This stuff works on all Muay Thai idiots, all Gracie idiots, all
Kickboxxing idiots, it’s effortless victory using this footwork.

Try it.

http://www.mntaekwondocenter.com/gallery/gallery_yup-step.html

Keeping my PERSONAL opinions to myself. What do ya all think of this statement and the video itself about the footwork.

EDIT: I just saw one of the responses which brough upon another great laugh:

Quote:
Eagle Claw Kung Fu decimates ‘this stuff” in
seconds.

This is low-grade, for fat-heads with no
full-contact experience.

My master Pai Mei, Head Priest of the White Lotus
Clan, sneers in derision at your childish Korean
kicky-art.

China, home of the masters, the root of all – not
Korea, silly boy.

Post: Bushi:

Bwahahahahahah. Silly rabbits.>

Post: Kyorgi:

Pai Mei…?

wasnt that the old guy in kill bill?>

ROFLMAO. “Put all your weight forward on your over-exposed lead leg, then cross your feet! Those muay Thai and kickboxing idiots won’t know what to do!”>

Post: bamboo:

To extend a little further on what Ninja clown’s quoted

Quote:
ROFLMAO. “Put all your weight forward on your over-exposed lead leg, then cross your feet! Those muay Thai and kickboxing idiots won’t know what to do!”

Won’t know what to do with all the spare time they have after having left the this taekwondope bleeding on the ground.

s Bushi so eloquently put it…silly rabbits!>

Post: Wilhelm von Wänkensteïn:

Rabbits = lunch in the grand scheme of things

Where did all the quotes come from, Matt? Is there a forum or something on that site?>

Post: Oh:

I’d just like to say, almost any martial arts style is effective as long as the subject trains hard enough.
And also i’d like to say that whoever made this site has a pretty arrogant narrow minded view on martial arts thinking that Chinese is the grestest.
-Bruce Lee would hate you.

Post: Sabre:

As someone who practices ITF TKD I would like to say “oh for f*%k’s sake”. If one of my students did anything like that I’d personally slap the shit out of them on the spot

You sure its not a site for ballroom dancing or some weird ass irish jig?

Its nobbers like that who give TKD a bad name (them & WTF  )

Oh, & the guy in the photo is the spitting image of the founder of KUPSO, HEHEHEHEHE >

Post: shurite44:

Again, TKD bashing.

This is an Olympic style footwork technique. They do many drills to position themselves for kicks. They are not permitted to punch the head with their hands, it is a foul. It is also difficult to score with the hands to the body in Olympic style rules. It happens but not called by the refs very often. The rules force you to do some fancy footwork to be effective at the sport.

I generally don’t practice this style but see nothing wrong with someone wanting to become an Olympic TKD champion and going to a school that specializes in it.>

Post: bamboo:

Shurite- Did you even bother to read the quote (much less the post before yours by a TKD instructor?) Do you feel it would work? Have you tried it?

Its not TKD bashing, its silly technique bashing here.

If someone told me that a shomenuchi (overhead “chop”) as practiced by aikidoka was an effective attack I’d laugh at them as well. Is that aikido bashing or just looking at the statement itself?

The original qoute had nothing to do with olympic style tkd, it actually implied MMA. Please, before you paint the entire forum with the same brush, take the time to read the thread.

What does have to do with the olympics?

Post: zefff:

Thanks for filling us in on what the footwork is for but seriously…Ive never seen any “Muay Thai and Kick boxing idiots” enter olympic TKD.>

Post: shurite44:

No, not sure on what quote we are talking about. I just clicked on the link and saw a fairly normal Olympic style drill.>

Post: shurite44:

I read the statement, I don’t think that is from the fellow in the video teaching the technique is it.

Stupid statement, I do agree with that. I would guess it is from someone that does not understand the nature of sporting events and rules.>

Oh and by the way this seems to be Taekwondo bashing. Not silly technique bashing.

Bamboo I knocked a fellow out with an overhead chop one time. So something’s that seem silly come in handy occasionally.>

Post: bamboo:

Very much agreed respecting the overhead chop, suprise value helps quite abit I would say.

Yes, the picture is rather silly but then so was the statement that opened the thread.

oh well, in the end, its only the web and none of us really matter anyway…

Well I should add he was crawling away on all fours after I punched him in the head about 3 times. But it did seem like the thing to do at the time.>

Post: zefff:

Crawling while KO’d? Was that some kind of miraculous involuntary response in the nervous system?  >

No, LOL. That would be a trick. I chopped him on the back of the neck as he made a feeble attempt to get away. 30 years ago when I was young and dumb. Also to add to the story the poor guy was a midget believe it or not. LOL>

Post: zefff:

HAW HAW HAW!!! You beat up a midget and then hit him while he was down!!!!  >

Yes, it was a very weird night. LOL. I got in a fight with a midget, his huge brother, and their average size friend. LOL. I was young and dumb or I could have easily avoided the fight. Like I said this happened 30 years ago. Back when we all still thought karate chops were cool. LOL>

Post: bamboo:

hee hee, good story!>

[quote=bamboo hee hee, good story![/quote

The midget accused me of stealing his jacket in the parking lot after the club closed. I started laughing and said, “What the f#ck would I want with you jacket, you think I work at the circus”, LOL. Anyway at that point the fight was on.

Initially I did not try to hit the little fellow. I was doing the big brother technique on him where you put your open palm on his forehead and all his punches fell short. LOL. But then the little bast@rd pushed me real hard below my center of balance, it was icy and I fell forward flat on my face. Little evil bast@rd then tried to kick me so I got back up and warned him one more time. He did not take the hint so I punched him a few times and like I said shuto to the back of the neck. Out like a fricken light.

Then here comes big brother and average guy. I banged them up pretty good also. Still did not have the bat yet though, that all happened during round two after the midget woke up. LOL.>
